COVID 19 UPDATE 09/04/2021

The Australian Government has made some changes to the way the COVID-19 vaccine will be rolled out. Here is what we understand so far.

What are the changes?

  1.  If you are under 50 years of age and have not yet received the Astra Zeneca vaccine, you will most likely receive the Pfizer vaccine instead.
  2. If you are under 50 years of age and have received the first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine already, you can still receive the second dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

If you are over 50 years of age, the Astra Zeneca vaccine remains the recommended option.

Why?

There have been a small number of cases of blood clots around the world. They are rare but serious. They seem to be more common in younger people. They could possibly be linked to the Astra Zenca vaccine, but we are not sure. The Australian government is taking the above actions to be safe.

This is early advice and we will keep you informed once we know more.
